Disseminating the word about mental health

The Association increases people’s mental health competence through its educational activities: capacity to understand oneself, one’s surroundings, resources and risk factors, take care of one’s own wellbeing and cope with day-to-day problems, support other people and know how to get professional help if needed.

Each year, FAMH organises some twenty press conferences and publicity projects. In addition, it participates in some 30 events around Finland, including fairs, conferences and seminars.

FAMH has systematically extended its information network. FAMH's website at www.mielenterveysseura.fi provides information about assistance when problems occur. In addition, FAMH is involved in the Finnish mental health organisations' joint web services.

FAMH publishes an annual Newsletter in English.

FAMH publishes two journals: Mielenterveys (Mental Health) which specialises in mental health and is published six times a year, and Perheterapia (Family Therapy) which is a training publication on psychotherapy skills.

FAMH publishes professional literature offering new and in depth information on mental health. A wider audience is targeted with books and guides providing information on and support for life management and coping. FAMH has a separate company for publication activities. In addition, FAMH publishes guides, booklets, brochures and audio-visual material.
